Words with Q but no U
The letter Q is worth 10 points in standard Scrabble, but it is usually followed by U. When you draw a Q and no U, these words are your way out. The ENABLE list used by this site has 29 of them, shown below.
Many of these are loanwords from other languages. Some are not valid in every word list or game, so check the one you play.

The ones worth memorising
- qat and suq are the shortest, at three letters each.
- qi appears in some modern word lists but is not in ENABLE, so check your game.
- faqir, qaid, qoph and suq are other short ones.
- qwerty, the name of the standard keyboard layout, is on this list, and it needs no U.
Plan ahead
